TAXES
= The state sales tax of 4 percent applies to all taxable sales and services with some exceptions. In addition to the state sales tax, municipal sales tax is currently imposed in more than 140 cities in South Dakota. City tax rates vary, usually from 1 to 3 percent (subject to change).

INCENTIVES
= Lodging accommodations are taxed at the 4 percent state sales tax rate, plus city tax rate and a 1 percent tourism tax. For both state and city tax, the room is exempt from tax if rented for 28 consecutive days.
