New Movie Being Filmed in Eastern South Dakota
Movie Extras Wanted

PIERRE, S.D. – Eastern South Dakota will soon set the stage for a romantic comedy film.

Shooting for "The Pact", an independent film, begins Aug. 3 in the Brookings and Sioux Falls areas.

The movie’s writer and the director are brothers from Brookings. Aaron Toronto with Tarantula Entertainment wrote the feature-length screenplay, and brother Matthew is directing it.

South Dakota connections don’t stop there. “The Pact” will be shot entirely in South Dakota, and the brothers plan to use mostly South Dakotans for the cast and crew.

“We are pleased to see filmmaking opportunities in South Dakota continue to grow through this project,” said Melissa Miller, director of the South Dakota Office of Tourism. “A movie of this caliber with homegrown talent will continue to build the industry’s in-state momentum.”

“The Pact” is a romantic comedy about two brothers who have made a pact: No women for one year.

The brothers’ relationship is put to the test throughout the film, and they quickly realize the pact is about more than women – it is about brotherly love, devotion, and loyalty to each other.

Aaron Toronto has an extensive background in film, music, and scriptwriting. He has written several screenplays and is in the midst of developing more.

Aaron also wrote “Group,” a musical that premiered at South Dakota State University in March 2008. A few months later, it was produced at the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls. Toronto plans to develop the musical into a feature film.

EXTRAS WANTED“The Pact” is still seeking extras for the film. If you’re interested, e-mail pacextras@yahoo.com or call Production Manager Janna Anderson, at 605-691-3028.

Additionally, the filmmakers are still looking for investors to help finance the production. For more information contact Aaron Toronto at aktvoices@aol.com or 605-695-7642.
